Able

Ready, willing and able.  Those three words have always indicated a heightened state of
awareness.  Are you ready to give your all?  What are you willing to sacrifice for your success?
And most important, are you able?  In other words, what are your talents, your skills and your
education?  In order to at a world class level, you have to make sure that you are world class
material.  You have to study the masters in your chosen profession.  Education needn't be
expensive.  It is time consuming, though.  But how can you hope to be the best in your industry if
you aren't willing to invest some of your time into your future?  If Tiger Woods didn't hit one
thousand golf balls everyday, he would eventually be replaced as the number one golfer in the
world by one of his competitors that is willing to hit one thousand golf balls a day.  If Michael Jordon
hadn't had the drive to practice his basketball skills for hours a day, he would never have
developed into the greatest basketball player of all time.  It's not enough to be born with natural
and gifted skills.  Because natural skills will only take you so far.  It kills me when I hear non-sales
people say that sales is just about having great people skills.  It's that and so much more.  Great
people skills alone won't take you very far if you don't know how to find leads, cold call, network,
work hard, remain persistent and many other hard to come by skills.  One of my worst traits is my
lack of organizational skills.  No matter how successful I may be in my chosen profession, I can
always improve my success by focusing on any area that may need improvement, which in this
case would be being more organized.  Thank goodness for the advent of the computer and
Customer Record Management software, otherwise, I don't know where I'd be.  I started using ACT
almost 15 years ago.  The first version I used was ACT 1.0.  It was black and white and I used it on
a laptop computer with a monochrome screen.  Learning how to use ACT to track my prospects
and customers way back then has enabled me.  ACT allows me to keep better track of my
prospects, my customers and my sales calls, making me much more able sales professional.
